Blue Line Visioning

Muller2  provided feasibility studies and concept design services for the reconstruction of the Oak Park, Pulaski, Cicero and Western Stations located along the Forest Park Branch of the CTA’s Blue Line. Features of the new stations include signature pedestrian canopies, bike parking, designated bus waiting areas, full platform enclosures, and improved station access from the neighboring communities.

The design team investigated station planning from the aspect of users with disabilities as well as cyclists. Vehicle routes and lane configurations of adjacent vehicular thoroughfares were studied in order to propose modifications that would allow for the integration of bike lanes as well as accessible, at grade crosswalks located directly across from the station entrances at CTA bus stops.
