Metra / Metra Electric District 5 Stations
The rehabilitation of five Metra Electric District Line stations - 79th, 87th, 95th, 103rd, and 111th will transform these stations by replacing the existing structures with new, enclosed street-level entrances, headhouses, and windbreak shelters. Our design is centered on creating a unique identity for each station through a color scheme inspired by the station's history and context, custom mosaic wall tile art, and other design elements like unique guardrails, column covers, and a custom glass fiber-reinforced concrete elevator enclosure. A big part of this project is centered on the commuter experience and ADA accessibility. The new designs feature new street level entrances, headhouses and windbreak shelters, all of which are designed to create a uniform appearance throughout the line.

Chicago Department of Transportation / Navy Pier Flyover Lakefront Bike Path
Muller2 provided conceptual and detail design of all elements for the new Navy Pier Flyover elevated lakefront path. The new path is designed to provide safe passage for bikers, joggers, and the general public though a congested portion of Chicago’s heavily used lake front. The path is raised above the congestion on a distinctive spine like structure traversing approximately 1/2 mile. It weaves between and over many obstacles including buildings, roads and a canal.

Midway Airport Security Bridge Expansion

Chicago Department of Aviation / Midway Airport Security Checkpoint Expansion
This 80,000 square foot expansion, lead by M2, is centered over Cicero Avenue, and connects the Air-side Terminal Building to the Land-side Terminal Building. The expansion vastly improves the circulation and reduces waiting times during peak periods.  The centrally located checkpoint accommodates up to 26 full-equipped security lanes, and includes a greatly expanded queue space.  Expansion further rationalizes pedestrian flow by segregating entering and exiting passengers and providing a dedicated employee entrance.  Expanded retail opportunities are also created. The Checkpoint creates a natural gateway for passengers departing on their journeys or for visitors arriving to Chicago.  The physical location of the Checkpoint, over Cicero Avenue also creates a gateway for passengers arriving by vehicles (and for vehicles passing through).

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport / Gate Lounge of the Future
M2 is providing complete architectural design services for the new DFW Gate Lounge of the Future project. This new concept replaces traditional seating, information displays, and elements with interactive, digital features that offer unique experiences. Sculptural seating elements, and a unique, interactive pavilion structure seamlessly integrate technology with architectural elements. Digital surfaces offer interactive content that can be adapted to assist the boarding process as well as providing curated digital content featuring scenes from the Dallas Fort Worth area and international destinations. This novel approach to the gate area blurs the traditional lines between the “hold room” space and the rest of the terminal by seamlessly weaving together experiential elements and concessions opportunities with traditional gate area amenities.

Fleet and Facility Management / Chicago Riverwalk East Master Plan
Chicago’s Downtown Riverwalk has exploded in popularity in recent years and has quickly risen to one of the top five visitor destinations in the state. As a result, the City contracted with M2 to develop a masterplan to address items, such as: improved wayfinding, new vendor opportunities, improved circulation, additional restrooms, and various amenities/benches. The popularity of the Riverwalk has also necessitated the need to increase ‘back-of-house’ operations and M2 has developed concepts to improve deliveries and vendor storage, add new public safety offices, and relocate or expand administration and maintenance offices.
