Sungano Ziswa

Associate / Co-Studio Lead /Senior Project Manager / Project Architect

Sungano’s ability to remain calm in the face of chaos developed over his many years of working on mega-projects. This experience expanded his mental library of strategies can draw on in the moment.  It also allows him to keep a clear head to make decisions based on rational thought.

“By recognizing patterns in past similar projects, I can make informed predictions about potential roadblocks and stay one step ahead to deliver world-class innovative structures.”

His deep understanding of the complexities and nuances of large-scale construction projects is also echoed in his ability to manage large teams as an Associate and a Co-Studio Lead. He works with various team members through all phases of a project to develop design details as well as construction document preparation and construction administration.

His dedication to his projects is also matched by his dedication to organizations like NOMA (National Organization of Minority Architects) and  AMAC (Airport Minority Advisory Council). Both organizations encourage meaningful minority participation on design project while also encouraging the next generation of young minority designers to reach beyond the levels the current generation have achieved.

Sungano’s favorite part of being able to work with M2 is the fact that as an immigrant coming to the US , he landed at  O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 5. “I never knew that one day I would be one of the architects working on its expansion”.

  • Why architecture?
  • I have always been able to envision what’s on paper into a 3-dimensional object in my head. In high school my drafting teacher helped me see it and understand it, and I was good at it. If I am good at it and love it, why do anything else.
